Is the Boot Camp, Remote or Online?

There is a subtle difference between Remote learning and Online learning, which is very important for you to know.

The program is a Remote Boot camp, but not an Online Boot camp: What is the difference?
Remote learning requires you to be present in a live and interactive class, it gives you opportunity to ask question and be asked question real time. It maintains all the characteristics of brick and mortal only that you and your instructors are not in the same location. In Online Learning courses, you are not required to be present the same time and the same day as your instructors, materials to facilitate learning will be dropped for you and you can access at a later time.

How close to brick and mortal is our Remote Boot Camp?

We are preserving all the characteristics of our traditional bootcamp with this remote boot camp; the only difference is that we are not just in the same location. The same dedication, discipline and commitment will be demanded from you and also put into it by our faculty.

Remote doesn't mean "not formal/casual" but enhanced accessibility.

You will be required to maintain at least 90% attendance all through the programme
You will be required to turn on your web cam at every time and always share your screen as our trainers will like to see your style of writing codes, your line of thought and offer immediate feedback when necessary.
We are interested in your concentration and focus in the class, you will be required to create a working space where only you will be present in the room while attending our classes

Why is it so close to tradition learning? Our Apprenticeship Approach:

Our coding boot camp is not a mere academic process but an apprenticeship model, where you will be learning from subject matter experts (professional software developers).

We will not be recommending you to watch videos and use external resources like others, so your presence in the class is key to your success as you will learn through observations and doing.

What is the Time commitment required?

The boot camp will run for 26 weeks ; it will require workshop/ class activities of 14 hours per week and an 8 hours personal practice time per week (i.e 2 hours each class free-day).

Workshop/ Class Schedule:

Saturday : 9:00am - 5:00 pm WAT ( with a 30 mins break after every 2-hour period and an intermittent 15 mins tea break at the discretion of the instructor)

Sunday: 2:00pm - 6:00 pm WAT ( with a 30mins break after every 2-hour period)

Thursday: 9:00pm - 11:00pm WAT

Can I know the curriculum?

You will go from building mere websites to web applications by learning how to authenticate users, manage sessions, manage emails, manipulate files, validate forms, develop APIs, connect to web services and other advanced topics in PHP or Python
This course takes a deep dive into building interactivity into your application through Ajax and many more.

You will be taught the concept of Model-View-Controller using Laravel framework (if you opt for PHP) or Flask Framework (if you choose Python).
You will be required to build your own application using all the things you have learnt.

Database with MySQL and NoSQL
This course covers database design and the use of databases in applications, with an introduction to the internals of relational database engines.
It includes extensive coverage of the relational model, relational algebra, and SQL.
Common topics that shall be covered include:
- Database Creation,
- Tables and Table Operations
- MySQL Functions
- SQL Statements (DMLs - SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE, INSERT and DDLs) etc
The course also features database design and relational design principles based on dependencies and normal forms. Participants learn the design of database using Entity-Relationship-Diagram and the actual database design using SQL queries. Participants will also have a working knowledge of NoSQL like MongoDb
PHP Programming with Laravel or Python Programming with Flask
With the knowledge gained from this module, participants will be able to link the front end Graphic User Interface that has been developed in HTML/CSS module to the backend Database. While this is not an exhaustive list, topics that shall be covered include:

What is the tuition?

The tuition for Moat Academy International programme is different from that of Moat Academy Nigeria. The tuition is N1,600,000 (One million, six hundred thousand naira.) payable in installments as follows:
N100,000 Naira as commitment fee and N500,000 ( every two months from the commencement of the boot camp).
